Solar Energy

Solar Energy

The world population till date is estimated to number 7.13 billion by the United States Census Bureau (USCB). Global population in the last two millennium has increased in a rapid and by the end of 2050 it is assumed to be (8-10) billions. There is no doubt world’s energy needs will be growing much more steeply from now than at any time since the beginning of industrial revolution.

We need a lot of energy for light, heat, transport, food and so on in daily life. We can get this energy by several ways. For example, there is energy from the sun (solar energy), hydrogen, coal, oil, gas, river/ocean (hydroelectricity), nuclear energy etc .Although experts argue that nuclear energy as clean source of energy and does not produce any chemical or solid pollutants, the uranium that is used in fueling the nuclear plants still remains radioactive and can still harm the surrounding community affecting the loss of life and human settlements. The use of oil, coal and gas leads to environmental degradation. So eco-friendly sources of energy such as solar, hydro- and geothermal are of great concern.

Solar energy is a renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy. The modern systems use a method of sun exposure to generate electricity via semiconductors. Direct exposure to the sun and its heat generate electrons that are then captured into the system and translated into electricity. The design can be used for powering a small to large system that needs to be power.

Solar energy can be generated in two forms, namely electricity and heat. Solar cells or “photovoltaic” are used to convert solar radiation into electricity. Photovoltaic systems release no greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and they don’t even need direct sunlight to produce energy; they just need daylight so they can operate even during cloudy and less bright days. Electricity is generated indirectly from heat from solar energy and using the steam produced in the process to run power generators. Since no fossil fuels are being burned to produce heat, the resultant energy to 100% eco-friendly.

In conclusion, Solar energy is essential for humanity's continued progress. Being eco-friendly solar energy can help to save our planet from degradation.
